A week-end in Malta
“Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.” - Bertrand Russell.
Visiting a new place this time around, one that doesn’t just welcome you, it helps you realign.
During my recent press stay in Malta, I had the pleasure of discovering the newly opened Verdala Wellness Hotel, a five-star elevated adults-only sanctuary perched on the Tal-Virtù ridge, overlooking Rabat, the ancient city of Mdina, and, in the distance, the shimmering Mediterranean Sea.
A setting so serene it naturally invites you to slow down, breathe, and come back to yourself.
Malta has become one of Europe’s most sought-after destinations, and it’s easy to understand why.
Even in November, the island glows under a generous sun, its golden limestone reflecting a warmth that lingers on the skin.
Days here stretch softly, the perfect climate for a morning dip, a terrace coffee, or simply soaking in the view.
And from my room at Verdala, the panorama was spectacular: sweeping valley lines, historic silhouettes, and a horizon that dissolved into sea and sky.
As someone who travels quite a lot, I must give my expert opinion on this hotel : I literally did not sleep the first night - I was too excited of how beautiful and luxurious this hotel was!
The gastronomy at Verdala deserves its own chapter. Malta is known for its fresh, flavourful cuisine, but the hotel elevates it beautifully. At The Griffin, each dish celebrates local ingredients with finesse and creativity.

Seasonal vegetables, delicate pastas, fresh seafood - everything was balanced, elegant, and deeply satisfying.
A wellness hotel that delights both body and palate is always a rare find.
Inside, the Verdala is a contemporary ode to wellness. The V SPA, with its salt cave, hammam, thermal zones, and beautifully designed relaxation spaces, is a modern temple of restoration. It’s the kind of place where time feels different - slower, softer, and infinitely more intentional.
Yoga, breathwork, and meditation sessions are offered daily, allowing guests to set intentions, reset their rhythm, and reconnect with their inner world. You can simply just stay in if that’s what you are looking for during your Maltese escape.

But, beyond the hotel, Malta’s charm unfolds gently.
The narrow streets of Mdina, the authenticity of Rabat, and even an unexpected evening at the Manoel Theatre created a mosaic of culture, history, and modernity.
Even though it was my 3 rd time in Malta, the island always surprises me with something new.
Verdala Wellness Hotel is that perfect place to pause, to reflect and to feel aligned again.
A quiet luxury I would recommend to anyone seeking depth, softness, and sun... even in November.
