My Unforgettable Wellness Journey on the Middle Rhine with VIVA Cruises.



The Middle Rhine, a fairytale region in Germany, had long been on my travel wish list. So, when I had the opportunity to take a wellness trip with VIVA Cruises, especially on the newly christened VIVA ENJOY, I seized it with both hands. It was the ship's maiden voyage after the christening, adding an extra layer of celebration to the already exciting prospect. It promised to be the perfect combination of relaxation, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.

My journey began in Frankfurt aboard the VIVA ENJOY, VIVA Cruises' newest flagship. Being on the first voyage after the christening made the experience even more special. This modern ship exceeded all my expectations.
The interior was stylish and elegant, with Alex Jansen, design director who was in charge of ship’s design. As expected, the facilities were excellent. I immediately felt at home in my comfortable cabin, which was equipped with everything I needed. I was particularly excited to explore the ship's amenities, including the yoga room, gym, and the small plunge pool on deck. I made sure to pack my workout clothes, knowing I'd be taking full advantage of these complimentary facilities.

Wellness at its Finest.
The onboard wellness program was an absolute treat. Every day began with yoga and qigong led by an experienced wellness coach in the dedicated yoga room. I enjoyed delicious detox drinks, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies, and indulged in a relaxing massage ( which is included in your booking). There were also interesting lectures on health and aromatherapy.

Culinary Delights.
I was also thoroughly spoiled on the culinary front. VIVA Cruises' all-inclusive concept is highly recommended. With three restaurants to choose from, the dining experience was varied and delightful.



The RIVERSIDE restaurant was the main dining area, but I also made sure to experience VIVA’s Bistro, a more secluded space at the back of the ship but bathed in natural light thanks to the big windows; and let’s not forget the MOMENTS restaurant, an Italian-themed restaurant with again delicious food and drinks.



Enjoying meals at all three venues was a fantastic part of the experience. I could also enjoy delicious food throughout the day, from extensive breakfast buffets to gourmet dinners. The chefs on board surprised me time and again with their well thought dishes.

Exploring the Rhine's Gems.
During the trip, we visited beautiful cities and picturesque villages along the Rhine. Koblenz, Linz, Cologne, and Rüdesheim were all highlights. In Koblenz, we stepped directly from the ship into history at the Deinhards Sekt Museum.



The tour of this former sparkling wine cellar, with its rich 200-year history, was fascinating. Learning about the traditional bottle fermentation method and even witnessing the riddling and disgorging processes was a unique experience, capped off by a sparkling degustation. In Linz am Rhein, I was ready for relaxation at the Kristall Rhinepark Thermal Bad (swimwear essential!).
The thermal baths provided a perfect respite. Cologne offered a different perspective, as we explored the old town streets by rickshaw, a fun and efficient way to see the sights. Finally, in Rüdesheim, I enjoyed a refreshing hike inspired by Hildegard von Bingen, taking in the beautiful scenery.

Deutsches Eck and More.
One of the most impressive places we visited was the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, where the Moselle and Rhine rivers meet. The view of this monumental point was breathtaking.
