The Brussels experts.
It's always smarter to let the real experts speak, whatever the subject, but especially in archaeology, ancient arts and the study of lost civilizations...
Just these two words bring back thousands of images, memories, not of a memory of me living in a distant time, no, but of my father for example, in front of a ruin, I must have been 6 or 7 years old, putting his hand on the stone and cheering "5000 years old, can you believe it! 5000 years ago people lived in this house!
There is also the famous Indiana Jones series, which fascinated me and the whole world, and I must say that I am rather an adventurer, and above all, passionate about these times full of legends, fantastic stories and cities now sunken or completely disappeared.
So, not an expert at all, but a lover of these past civilizations that still leave us today their traces, their mysteries and above all, countless hidden answers.
Archaeologists discover, during their meticulous research, sometimes real treasures, from the end of their brushes sometimes emerges the perfect corner of a carved stone, which will become, by removing the sand or the earth, a magnificent column sculpted with inscriptions!
These artefacts, statutes, steles, tools, objects of craftsmen sometimes rudimentary or very surprisingly complicated and precise are listed, numbered, captioned and sent around the world, in the greatest museums that present the history of the known world, or start a new life in the market of Ancient Arts.
Did you know that many of these objects and treasures can be found in Brussels?
Some of them spend some time in the hands of our world-renowned experts, to be analysed and quoted, others are exhibited in their respective galleries, to be bought by the many collectors of the world, many of whom live in Brussels or in Belgium.
With the advice of our friend Patrick Mestdagh (see article), here are three experts who make Brussels shine in the world of ancient arts.
