Cocktail oases: exploring Brussels' best hotel bars / Part 1

The subject is vast, so we've turned it into a two-part series. This first installment is dedicated to showcasing these must-visit spots for the discerning epicurean in Brussels.
And we're not even talking about gastronomy here. Today's hedonism is not unrestrained; it focuses on the most beautiful and must-see hotel bars in Brussels.

We're keeping our focus on one of Epicurus's questions: where to go for a perfect moment, cocktail in hand? But why a hotel bar in particular? It's all about romance when you go as a couple. In this scenario, you might find the two lovebirds at the reception, ready to continue their conversation upstairs. If you're flying solo, chances are someone else is too, and with any luck, they're staying at the same hotel for a few days.

The hotels that house these creative oases, bubbles, music, and good vibes include the Amigo, the Craves, the Barsey, the Indigo, and the Dominican. We'll talk about the others in episode two of this series...

Bar le Magritte at the Amigo: Here, you step into this iconic Brussels hotel, and they tell you, "This is not a bar..." It's surrealism, alchemy, and an experience all in one. We love it. Perfect comfort, live musicians, and a decor that transports you into Magritte's world, his universe, and his precision—the same precision found in the masterful cocktails. There's even one named after him, the Magritte. An absolute delight... wine, rum, honey, fruit, all perfectly blended. Go ahead and try it.

Bar The Avenue at the Barsey is for sure part of this cocktail road in Brussels.
If you live in the southern or western part of Brussels, you probably pass by the Barsey almost every day, often at an hour that perfectly matches a sudden urge to stop. It’s worth spending a few minutes to park and join The Avenue to end your day—with whoever you choose! Even if you’re alone, it feels great here. The terrace is open, and at the end of the day, the sun is still shining. Everything is beautiful and peaceful; it's the perfect time for a cocktail to prepare for the evening... We go there often. But even if you live in the north, take a little detour before heading home.

In the city center, there's the heart of it all... the historic center, and that's where we're headed: the Lounge Bar at The Dominican. The Dominican has everything for a relaxing chill-out session. Wonderfully elegant, beautiful, warm, and ultra-trendy, it's a big breath of exoticism to end your day or start your evening. An incredibly welcoming place that you'll find it hard to leave, guaranteed.
Everything here is dedicated to your pleasure: the service, the welcome, the decor—we absolutely loved it! I had the Yuso Zen cocktail, my friend had a Margarita, and we shared a cheese platter... paradise or close enough, right? You know it? We go there too.

The fourth spot in the Epicurean lineage, for evening cocktails, is for those passing by Botanique, or Place Rogier. The Indigo holds a gem of freshness and extraordinary decor—and I haven't even mentioned their cocktails yet! Royal blue for a Moroccan touch, with colonial-style decor, majestic rattan chandeliers, sublime exotic plants, and ultra-soft leather sofas—soft but not too much. I took off my shoes, the music is fantastic, and it feels like home. A cocktail, please!

In the Dansaert neighborhood, there's a fabulous cocktail bar, steeped in mystery and cozy craziness, with an almost sultry ambiance and a strong romanticism—a true experience awaits at The Scene, within The Craves hotel.
When you settle in here, it feels like stepping into another reality, akin to Platform 9¾ in Harry Potter—a secret, invisible place, accessible only to those in the know.
Now that you know, The Scene is at the very top of my list—for starting the evening and even for ending it here... Cocktails are amazing, food is great...
