Brussels loves students love Brussels
Not an article, but a heartfelt tribute to our favorites, our young thinkers, our 100,000 girls and boys enrolled in the numerous institutions of the Brussels higher education community, our students!
Brussels loves its students, and the feeling is mutual.
Every year (until October 16 for the 2023 graduating class), the entire city celebrates its youth by welcoming them to the Grand Place, an extraordinary setting for the graduation ceremony of those who have successfully passed the challenging year-end exams!

With over 50 higher education institutions, Brussels has, over time, become one of the top choices for those seeking to pursue their academic journey in a city built for this challenge. Our Belgian universities, notably ULB, rank among the top 300 universities in the world, out of 1500 institutions assessed by Quacquarelli Symonds.

Brussels also holds the 6th place out of 37 greenest cities in Europe.
Over 180 nationalities share the notion of the famous "Living Together" in Brussels. Living and, especially, studying in Brussels means becoming a global citizen.
Brussels is the second most cosmopolitan city on the planet!
The city is brimming with entertainment venues, concerts, theaters, cocktail bars, guinguettes, live music bars, music festivals, and international nightclubs.
There are also hundreds of hidden gems, innovative concepts, and smaller, more intimate venues.
So, enjoying your student life in the Belgian capital is a delight. It's also because Brussels has a unique quality: it's a major city on the global diplomatic stage but still maintains a village-like charm, where you often run into familiar faces, and everyone knows each other, especially the best student hangouts!
We wish fair winds and hearty congratulations to all those, adorned in their finest uniforms and academic robes reaching for the sky, who have received or will receive their diplomas on the most beautiful square in the world.
