C, G, D, A, says the Cello...

Queen Elisabeth Competition 2022, the Cello highlighted for the second time.

The cello has 4 strings: C (lowest), G, D, A (highest). This magnificent instrument is the one, of all the instruments, which emits the sound closest to the voice...

This information alone, together with its beauty and perfect lines, make it one of the king instruments of the symphony orchestra today.

When the conductor's baton releases them, the cellos set the melody ablaze, or redirect it by taking it in hand, along their archers, rubbing their strings or plucking them (pizzicato), sometimes striking them (col legno) and making our hair stand on end!

This year again (for the second time), the Queen Elisabeth Competition will honor this sublime instrument which has traced its history over several centuries and climbed the ladder of marvelous instruments, winning its place as "principal" one after another.

From 9 May to 4 June 2022 the best young cellists from the four corners of the world will compete in Brussels, at the magnificent Flagey building for the first part of the contest, to finish at BOZAR for the final step and consecration. As some of the 68 candidates have withdrawn, there are 66 cellists who will participate in the first round.

This is not an advice, it is a recommendation, this sublime and prestigious competition is not to be missed under any circumstances!
