"Café-Croissant"?

Don't mess with basics!

It is the little French girl of the team who took charge of writing this article, me, after we received several photos of readers in the middle of a morning tasting!

French people you may ask?
Well no, 2 faithful LB'lovers from Brussels who wanted to share with us this delicious moment of the breakfast terrace! Thanks to Aline.D.K and Gabriel.G for sharing, here are your coffee-croissant moments published here!

For one of these pictures, it's easy to recognize the place without having any particular talent of sleuth (Place de la bourse ^^) for the other one, the place seems more intimate, certainly one of these numerous small hidden terraces where thousands of followers indulge every morning in this gustative ritual of "Café-Croissant", in secret, just to give themselves all the chances to start their day in the best dispositions.

Let's not be chauvinistic, we admit without much difficulty that the famous croissant accompanied by a coffee preparation can be claimed by our French friends.
It is also likely that if this type of breakfast is so popular in Brussels, it is thanks to the many French people who have settled in the capital over the last 20 years.

We tried to belgify it by naming it "couque", but it is not the name that is important, it is the way, not everyone makes real croissants! A real one must leave a small layer of fat on the fingers, undeniable proof of sufficient butter intake, it must absolutely be crispy, have a nice golden color and deliver a wonderful smell of bread and butter freshly baked, and I'm not talking about those so-called bakers who add artificial flavors!

The "Café-croissant" has become over the years a typical Brussels breakfast, whether it's on the terrace of a café before starting the day's work, alone or with colleagues, or taking the time to go and get this sublime pastry at the local baker's, starting the day with a hot croissant is a sure value!
As for the title of "best croissants of Brussels"... honestly, there are many real bakers who have this knowledge, do not hesitate to share your secret with us!
Bon appetit and have a nice day!
