Meeting with Ruxandra
To these titles, it’s also fair to add that she's an editorialist in our team! Ruxandra will now be joining our content creation team, dedicated to showcasing the brilliance of Brussels.
On this and many other fronts, we connect deeply. Ruxandra harbors a genuine affection for her city, seeing its beauty, its brilliant topics, and wonderful stories—opportunities to share and show them to her community, which now numbers over 100,000 followers on her networks and her blog "From Brussels with Love, by Ruxandra"!
Her own story began in Brussels 13 years ago when Ruxandra launched her blog, opening a stylish lifestyle window on the capital, then moved onto social media and started creating digital content, writing, photographing, and conveying her vision of beauty, luxury, elegance, and fashion trends... 13 years later, Ruxandra still refuses to be defined merely as an influencer; she prefers the title of content creator.
Numerous brands, both iconic and niche, collaborate with her. Ruxandra travels extensively around the world, sharing her life as an ambassador at times, a guest or mostly as a trend consultant because today, she chooses the stories that resonate with her and the products she wants to offer to her vast tribe.
She has recently joined the LB Insiders group, and as we said, we are thrilled to announce that she is now also a part of our editorial team with her own column.
Stay tuned for more information on this!
For now, we've met with Ruxandra and interviewed her, as a way to get to know each other better:
Ruxandra Ioana
ITV LB INSIDER, with Calista
LB > Hello Ruxandra, thank you for this interview! In your bio, you mention that you began your journey, which we can now certainly call your success story, "From Brussels with Love, by Ruxandra" back in 2011. Thirteen years later, you've cultivated a vast community of Brussels' enthusiasts who follow you daily. Could you share with us how you first ventured onto the web and the remarkable growth of this community?
RI > "Truth be told, it's been a journey marked by intense effort—days and nights tangled in administrative hurdles and cultural adjustments. Originally from Romania, I brought with me a distinct work ethic and approach that required significant adaptation when I moved to Belgium. Along this path, I've been fortunate to connect with incredible people who shared my vision and supported me, enabling the growth and success of my business today.
My story began in 2011, spurred by a profound disappointment. Ever since I was a child, fashion was my dream, inspired by hours spent playing with my grandmother’s scarves. Yet, upon moving to Belgium—facing a new language and culture—I mistakenly enrolled in textile design, misunderstanding it for fashion design. This was a time when the internet and access to information were not as robust as today. Realizing the mix-up, I left school but was still driven to express my fashion ideas to the world. Thus, in December 2011, I launched my blog 'From Brussels, with Love'—a passion project that quickly transformed into something greater.
By 2012, I had ventured into Instagram and other social platforms. Just two weeks in, I received my first collaboration offer, which was completely unexpected at the time. From there, it was like a snowball rolling downhill—a thrilling and unstoppable journey. I believe that when you pour your heart into your endeavors and commit fully, failure isn't an option. My following began to grow, first in the U.S. and then across Europe and beyond.
Today, I’m a full-time content creator, social media coach, and consultant in branding and marketing. I cherish the ability to pursue this career. If life had steered differently, I might have continued law school in Romania to become a lawyer or perhaps an architect. In today’s world, where many aspire to be influencers or TikTokers for fame and profit, I advocate pursuing passions genuinely and striving for excellence in fields like medicine, law, or architecture—the world needs more of that."
LB > You're not particularly thrilled with the title of 'influencer,' but prefer 'content creator.' Yet your community seems to be very fond of you and willingly embraces your suggestions. Do you think that the status of 'influencer' on social media lacks authenticity nowadays, that it's poorly perceived, and why?
RI > "First off, I consider myself a bit too 'seasoned' to fit the typical influencer mold. When I first started my blog, 'blogger' was the term that resonated with me, and these days, I find 'content creator' to be the most fitting label.
It's true—I have a large following, and they genuinely enjoy the products and ideas I share. They're often eager to explore the things I recommend. My pitch to brands is straightforward: 'I’m not just a billboard, nor am I a salesperson.
I craft beautiful, engaging content that benefits you too—you get quality material without having to hire someone else. Plus, I share it with my audience. If they decide to try something I feature, that’s a win!' I believe there's an authenticity crisis among many influencers who merely push products to capitalize on their popularity, whether from TV or YouTube. This has led to significant trust issues within the industry, which I consciously avoid. You won’t see me at events scrambling for freebies or scheming for followers and profit. My collaborations are carefully curated, and I place a strong emphasis on the human connection behind any partnership."
LB > Given the strong bond you've cultivated with your ever-expanding community over time, I can only imagine the considerable influx of messages, comments, and inquiries you receive—it must be quite time-consuming! Building a sense of trust and connection with your followers is paramount to you. How do you perceive this relationship?
RI > As the demographic of my followers has matured, I've noticed a slight decrease in the volume of messages, but I still make it a priority to respond promptly. This helps convey that I'm approachable, not just some distant figure. After all, I owe my position to their support, and responding is the least I can do. Being a good listener, I often find myself approached by people I've never met who seek advice on various personal challenges. Whenever I feel equipped to provide guidance, I gladly do so. My followers reflect who I am—not just in numbers, but in the genuine connection we share. They may not be millions, but they are truly 'mine,' and our relationship is something I treasure deeply.

Ruxandra, which definition of luxury aligns most closely with your view and can you explain why?
Oscar de la Renta: "Luxury is not about buying expensive items; it's about living in a way that allows you to appreciate them."
Henry Royce: "Luxury is when the quality lingers long after the price is forgotten."
RI > "I resonate most with Oscar de la Renta's vision. Why? The answer is simple yet profound. Luxury isn't about extravagant spending—it's far from a question of affording the priciest tag. True luxury lies in savoring a good life, cherishing quality and timeless pieces, and deeply appreciating every moment. It’s about creating a life where every experience is valued, not just owned."
