In the realm of gemstones, each month is adorned with a precious and often elusive jewel.
But for the month of June, let us delve into the realm of pearls, and not just any pearl—let us unveil the tale of the most extraordinary, the rarest of them all, a gem that outshines even the brilliance (and the price!) of diamonds: the Pink Pearl of Lambi.

As I immerse myself in this captivating subject, a story unfolds not just about a pearl, but about a woman—an intrepid soul with flowing golden locks, a seeker of treasures, a globally acclaimed paleontologist.
She has ascended to the throne as the Queen of Pink Pearls in the Caribbean, a title earned through her audacious exploits and unwavering passion.

Sue Hendrickson, born in 1949, is the legendary American paleontologist who made the groundbreaking discovery of the largest T-Rex skeleton in history on August 12, 1990, in the hills of South Dakota. This iconic skeleton, affectionately named "Sue," is prominently exhibited at the Field Museum in Chicago.
Hendrickson embarked on her career by exploring shipwrecks in the Caribbean, and by the mid-1980s, she had turned to amber mining in the mountains of the Dominican Republic, eventually becoming one of the primary suppliers of amber for scientists.
In addition to her remarkable finds, Hendrickson also came across three exquisitely preserved butterflies dating back 23 million years, which now constitute a significant portion of the world's butterfly collection.
However, Sue's story doesn't end there. For decades, she has pursued another one of her greatest passions: the quest for pink pearls in the Caribbean. Pink pearls are among the rarest gemstones in the world, found in only one out of every 10,000 conch shells.

The pink pearls from Queen conchs are highly coveted, and it is Sue who introduced them to the modern world.
Once a relatively unknown gem in the 1800s, the pink pearl gradually faded from prominence in the 20th century. Nevertheless, when Hendrickson stumbled upon her first pink pearl in the 1970s, she instantly fell in love with its beauty.

Since then, she has tirelessly collaborated with local divers to establish the world's largest collection of pink pearls.
Overwhelmed by their magnificence, she decided to showcase her collection to the renowned Japanese jeweler Ryo Yamaguchi of Mikimoto Pearls, who was equally astounded by this "new" discovery.

With Yamaguchi's assistance, Sue brought the pink pearls into the global spotlight, and the rest is history.
Pink pearls are so exceedingly rare that they surpass the value of diamonds, with individual pearls fetching prices exceeding $400,000 each.

Indeed, behind the enchanting tale of the Queen of Pearls lies a true Queen of Pink Pearls—a regal figure who embodies the essence of beauty and allure. For us, she is undeniably the most exquisite of them all—the Pink Pearl.
To those who read this article, it is quite likely that your future vacations in the Caribbean will be tinged with a hint of adventure, as you embark on a quest to seek the precious Lambi, whispering, "Go ahead, my love, I'll keep watch!"
