Precious Enigma
Do not trust appearances, not immediately, wait a little, it is an enigma that is discovered almost by chance, when the light strikes the golden thread, in a certain way, with a particular orientation, we walk through the space around the work and then suddenly the enigma is solved, what we thought lifeless, simply artistic, becomes a word, a readable shadow that reveals its secret...
This is the story of two artists, one a master jeweler, the other a master sculptor of light and shadows.
Together they create a precious enigma, a work of art, a jewel of which only seven copies will exist.
Enigma is the name of this art jewel which is composed of a sculpture and a jewel, linked by the same objective to hide to the one who sees it its true nature, its secret.
Fred Eerdekens, the sculptor, unfurls a gold wire and imposes a line on it, a seemingly mad race, a message that is sculpted to be revealed only through the light and its shadow.
Moise Mann then creates a jewel, a gold pendant that, through the same process of light projection, takes its part of the enigma and reveals its message. "By looking at things differently, Manalys creates a difference. My creative team was directly inspired by Fred Eerdekens' work. By looking at his sculpture from a different angle - and with a little imagination - the word "ombres" (shadows) can be seen in the jewelry. The coincidence is both enigmatic and relevant". Says Moses Mann.
For Manalys, the challenge was to represent the artist's word in relief. The Enigma artwork is not flat. Moïse Mann sought to transfer this volume to the jewel. The jeweler's objective: to accurately translate the artist's sculptural calligraphy by adapting his cutting technique, which is different from the classic method.
The result is simply sublime, a magnificent wenge wood box, handcrafted in Belgium, containing both the sculpture and the jewel, as well as a certificate and a booklet explaining the collaboration.
