Romantic escapades...
An article about a top romantic idea, and there are still a few days left in February to talk about romance - the month of love!
For those who live here together throughout the year, who navigate the city along the same paths always, or who sometimes deviate for a dinner with friends, a show, or occasionally leave to rest far away...
this time the idea is to stay and write a script, that of a light romantic comedy, and share it as a couple, in love, a story to rediscover Brussels! Two escapades imagined by gathering what seems to be the things that bring the most joy to women, what they expect from their partners, to show them that we love them and that we have spent some time putting together pleasant moments, living together in our home, rediscovering the city from a romantic perspective.
The first one starts at the hotel, the second one ends there, as if sleeping together remains a must as the starting or ending point of a romantic story. Both explore the city and its gardens, viewpoints, intimate gastro places, and we also add flowers, a symbol of a love we bring home, because a romantic story always leaves room for a beautiful bouquet. These two are just my ideas, but I have no doubt that you are much better in writing your own story, your own itinerary that reflects you both. The essential thing is to live more intensely from time to time, without having to leave the city.
Brussels is beautiful and perfect to live in, and (re)falling in love!
Escape 42-1
In the evening, after dinner, ask your sweetheart to pack a bag with just the essentials for a city-trip in town.
A taxi awaits you outside; tonight, you won't be sleeping at home.
Head to the DixSeptieme hotel, a perfect and undoubtedly one of the most intimate and romantic hotels in the capital. Settle in and treat yourselves to a sauna for two or a UV session in the wellness area.
It's time for a leisurely nighttime stroll through the neighborhood, wandering through the small streets of the Grand'Place, crossing the sublime Royal Saint-Hubert Gallery, and returning to your suite for a night under the cozy covers in each other's arms.
A sublime breakfast, in bed of course, and not too early! Enjoy a lazy morning until at least 10 am...
Then set out for a leisurely morning walk and a visit to the secrets and workshops of La Monnaie (note: only on the first Saturdays of the month at noon; the opera district is full of small taverns or shops to explore while waiting for the tour)!
It's almost 1 pm now, take a taxi; it's time to face each other in an intimate, cozy, and gourmet atmosphere for a memorable lunch at Vertigo. Their cocktails are absolutely delicious, a perfect start to a gourmet love experience in the heart of one of the most romantic neighborhoods in Brussels, the Grand Sablon.
Starter, main course, dessert (the Venetian Sabayon is an absolute delight...), then spend the rest of the day at the SPA.
Take a taxi, traverse the city through Place Louise, Chaussée de Charleroi, and straight to Spa & Lounge 383 in Uccle.
A place of relaxation, massages, rejuvenating treatments, and bubbles, 383 offers private sessions for two, already famous in the capital!
After that... there's still one place missing from this romantic journey in Brussels, a place that surpasses all others and that one is always happy to return to: home.
You will have arranged for a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Damien Overputte of DO Flowers, a former member of Daniel Ost's team, to be delivered.
Tonight, have a simple dinner for two, sharing moments on the couch, busy posting your most beautiful photos and sharing them with the world...
Escape 42-2
Story #2 begins with a lazy morning, savoring the luxury of not rushing to start the day—an indulgence often reserved for lovers when nothing else matters.
It's time to answer the doorbell's chime announcing a vibrant bouquet of multicolored flowers.
Gift them again in bed, then place them in your most beautiful vase and transition to the next scene: lunch on the terrace, preferably on a sunny Saturday.
Head to Brugmann, a renowned restaurant and an essential spot for romantic rendezvous, boasting a magnificent terrace overlooking the gardens of Parc de l'Abbé Froidure. At Brugmann, everything is romantic—the decor, the ambiance, the cuisine, the plates, and the attentive staff!
After lunch, you've scheduled a duo visit to an extraordinary place—the Van Buuren House and Gardens. Immerse yourselves for 45 minutes in the house turned museum, its expansive rose garden, labyrinth, and culminate in the Garden of the Heart, a sublime space dedicated to love.
For this scenario, plan a leisurely shopping spree in the must-visit fashion district, featuring handmade leather goods, artisanal jewelry, and other extraordinary boutiques—the Dansaert neighborhood and Place Ste-Catherine.
From one shop window to another, explore this unique district at your shopping pace, hand in hand. Perhaps succumb to the temptation of a homemade pastry at one of the many excellent pastry shops in the area's numerous terraces!
When the time comes, leave the area, still by taxi, a little higher up in the city, at Place Poelaert.
From here, Brussels unfolds, and at this late afternoon hour, it adorns itself with its nocturnal lights, setting the stage for the evening. Why not elevate the pleasure by going even higher and witnessing the entire illuminated city from the top of The View, our local very big Ferris wheel!
Back to ground level, just across the way, a table awaits to continue this romantic tale, nestled in the heart of the famous private circle, TheMerode (formerly Cercle de Lorraine). CIAO restaurant is THE place for a cozy, comfortable dinner for two, delving into Italian gastronomy and savoring exceptional seasonal produce.
Take your time here, pampered by the team with an Italian touch. Plates parade, enhancing Chef Leonardo's cuisine, accompanied by the finest wines recommended by Sonia Capriolo, sommelier and hostess. The restaurant is open to everyone, members or non-members of TheMerode.
The story concludes in a secret garden, challenging to find, well-hidden behind an anonymous storefront. The "Jardin Secret" is an incognito hotel, supremely romantic to end the evening with your beloved, letting yourselves be pampered until morning. A hearty and ultra-creative breakfast brings this second escapade in Brussels to a close—in the arms of your love.
Two stories written, thousands more to be penned.
In Brussels, the options are limitless for expressing and (re)showcasing love again and again...
