SuperSilk
My first piece with my new friends at Edito LB! I had a list of topics to choose from, but my heart was set on silk right from the start.
You see, I'm a devoted member of the Silk Worm Cult, honoring the ingenious creator of a mysterious fabric.
Our journey takes us back 4,500 years, to a time well before the "Seven Warring States", during the reign of Huangdi, known as the Yellow Emperor and regarded as the founding father of Chinese civilization.
It wasn't the great emperor himself who penned the opening chapter of this extraordinary silk saga, but rather his wife, Empress Xi Ling-Shi, also known as "Leizu".
Leizu found herself in her private gardens, surrounded by her closest companions—wives of other royal family members and her attendants.
It was tea time, and they gathered under the shade of ancient mulberry trees. The empress and her court often spent their afternoons retelling palace stories, seeking the truth behind rumors.
Suddenly, a white cocoon dropped from a leaf, right into Leizu's teacup. Upon contact with the steaming water, the cocoon unraveled a glistening thread that clung to her cup before gracefully descending to the ground.
As it did, it revealed a fine thread, as delicate as a strand of hair, shimmering with an otherworldly glow.
Leizu picked up the thread and began winding it around her finger. For long minutes, she continued to wind this precious and enigmatic substance around her finger, never-ending, streaming from that small white cocoon on the ground. It transformed into a silky, radiant ball of thread. It was on that afternoon during the tea ceremony that the silk story began. Leizu went on to establish vast mulberry plantations, inventing the silk reel, and, according to legend, the very first silk loom!
We're talking about mulberry silk here, nothing else.
This is the silk produced by the remarkable Bombyx Mori, tiny creatures whose sole diet consists of mulberry leaves. This natural fiber is the shiniest, silkiest, and strongest in the world—three times stronger than Kevlar, the material used in bulletproof vests!
Each cocoon's long, fine fibers extend over 300 meters, and when woven together, it's the density and consistency that create this exquisitely smooth texture.

The silk fiber from the silkworm consists of 97% proteins, sericin, and fibroin, which give this supernatural fabric its luminous sheen and finish.
Moreover, these proteins play an incredible role in the anti-aging process, acting as an antioxidant, protecting against pollutants, and forming a barrier against bacteria and fungi.
The fine texture of silk keeps your skin hydrated, alleviates skin sensitivities, and offers outstanding thermoregulation properties.
So, it's absolutely imperative to ditch the cotton for your sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases.
Silk ensures you wake up with the same hairstyle as the night before and a flawless complexion.
Say goodbye to cotton that squishes your face and torments your hair, adding unwanted wrinkles with each night's sleep!
The results are truly astonishing: silk leaves your hair silkier, less frizzy, and stronger, while your skin appears more youthful.
And there's no harm in continuing this tactile relationship with silk throughout your day—perhaps a silk scarf around your neck or in your hair, or even as a wrist accessory.
If I told you silk has magical powers, would you believe me?
Don't hesitate; it's a guarantee.
Silk undergarments are also highly recommended, thanks to the clear antibacterial properties of this time-honored fiber.
To help you on your silk journey, here are some places to become addicted to silk and transform your nights into youth-preserving rituals and your days into stylish, colorful, and energizing adventures.
