The art of Togetherness — Freywille’s Annual Celebration
Let Me Tell You a Story…
The story of an evening — an event I had the pleasure of attending on behalf of the LuxuryBrussels.be community.
They say a great event always begins with a beautiful invitation. And indeed, it did.
Early September, a letter arrived in the post — a printed invitation already setting the tone, or rather the colors. It was the promise of an annual soirée by FREYWILLE, a brand that is not only a friend but also a partner of our media community.
An invitation to their event on Friday, October 10, and the purpose of this editorial, as you’ve guessed, is to let you experience that moment — through words and images.
Punctuality being the courtesy of queens, I arrived right on time in front of FREYWILLE’s charming corner boutique on Place du Grand Sablon, where two elegant black coaches stood waiting.
The colors were already present — inside the boutique, through the décor and the shimmering jewelry collections, and even upon the heads of the FREYWILLE team, each crowned with delicate flower wreaths.
After a glass of fine Mexican wine (ah yes — the evening was inspired by Mexico, its culture, and above all by its artistic icon, Frida Kahlo!), we were invited to board the buses.
Every comfortable seat held a missive — a letter rolled in satin ribbon, accompanied by a mexican playlist setting the mood. The tone was set. As we departed toward our still-secret destination, I discovered a vibrant brochure tucked in the seat pocket — Frida’s face smiling back at me, as if inviting me to play along with her art.
The game? To identify five icons, among ten, that were never used in her work. As a long-time admirer of Frida, it came naturally — I ticked the dog, the giraffe, the snake, the airplane, and… the Atomium.
Soon, we slowed down and stopped before a place I knew of but had never visited — what a perfect opportunity to discover the atelier of Isabelle de Borchgrave, the celebrated Brussels designer and artist. A glowing path of small lanterns led us inside — into a true artist’s studio, two open floors filled with creativity, color, and tributes to Frida Kahlo: costumes, books, and artworks.
FREYWILLE could not have chosen a more fitting venue — a world of artistry, precious objects, and imagination, shared that evening with their dearest clients, friends, and Brussels personalities.
The bright, cheerful voice of the master of ceremonies (Damien — the same talented actor who hosted the inauguration of Luxury Brussels!) welcomed us warmly and led us into the first experience of the night — one I absolutely loved.
Joining him was Sergio Pezzoli, former world cocktail champion and consultant to leading luxury spirit brands.
Together, they invited us to create a cocktail — one that would reflect the collective taste of everyone present. A beautifully printed booklet was handed out for us to note our preferences. The final creation would be christened “El Corazon de Frida.”
Guests wandered through the enchanting space, greeted by servers from Maison Tacoli, masters of Mexican gastronomy, their faces painted à la Frida —
serving exquisite bites that were impossible to refuse. The booklets were gathered, and Sergio’s team began their alchemy.
Damien’s voice then invited us upstairs — by stairs or by lift, both leading to wonder.
The high ceilings revealed Isabelle de Borchgrave’s striking installations — many of them dedicated to Frida Kahlo, whose spirit she has celebrated in a past exhibition at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Brussels. Three grand tables filled the room — covered with colored pencils, brushes, paper, and tubes of paint — hundreds of hues calling us to sit down and take part in what was becoming a truly extraordinary night.
FREYWILLE, together with its creative designer Alice — an angelic presence and the artistic heart of the Frida Kahlo's brand collection — invited us to design, together, a unique jewel for the evening: a delicate and inspired blend of our personal ideas. All orchestrated by Damien and Alexandra, FREYWILLE’s director. It was pure joy — everyone dove into the creative process, expressing their imagination freely, with FREYWILLE’s promise to transform this collective inspiration into a real sketch, soon to be crafted in their Viennese atelier and sent to us as a memento.
The evening flew by much too quickly. We smiled, laughed, ate divinely, and yes — drank a bit too much, especially of Sergio’s exquisite cocktail, which he’d prepared in both versions — with and without alcohol. Needless to say, I opted for the real one (the orange one, Martini cup).
We drew, we posed, we took countless photos at the photocall and around the atelier — creating everything from colorful doodles to genuine works of art. There was creative energy, joy, and the pleasure of being together — gathered around a house that knows how to make every guest feel cherished, spoiled with gifts, exclusive offers, and genuine kindness.
So, allow me to say: discover FREYWILLE. There is true quality, authenticity, and generosity here.
My thanks to Alexandra and her team, to Olivia from Maison Tacoli for the flawless catering, to Damien for his enthusiasm and impeccable voice, and to Paola from HFC Communications for organizing this unforgettable creative celebration.
After all, a great event always begins with a beautiful invitation.
